FAQs

It is completely normal to have some questions before attending your appointment. Here are some of the more frequently asked questions that you may find helpful. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for please don’t hesitate to get in contact.

What can I expect from my treatment?

For your initial cosultation you will be asked to fill out a consultation form which will be emailed to you along with a confirmation of your booking. If you have any trouble filling this out prior to your appointment this can be filled out once you have arrived. The consultation form ensures we have as much information relating to yourself and the injury/issue you are experiencing as possible to make sure you are provided with the most effective treatment. We will then discuss this and any other questions that arise. At this point a postural assessment and any specialised tests may be carried out.

Once all the information is gathered your treatment will be discussed with you so you are aware of what to expect and allow you to give informed consent to carrying on with the treatment.

Once the treatment is finished you will be given any aftercare advice to help aid your recovery.

Will the treatment be painful?

Soft tissue therapy and sports massage use techniques that may apply a firm pressure to the treated areas. This may cause some discomfort at the time and in some cases may feel painful. However, the aim is not to cause pain so you will be constantly asked for your feedback throughout the treatment to ensure you are comfortable. If at any point you have questions or feel uncomfortable please don't be afraid to feed this back straight away. You are the one who knows how it feels!

How long will my treatment be?

Treatment times vary depending on the type of treatment you are having and the reason for your visit. Please see the Services & Pricing page for more information.

How much is a treatment?

Treatment costs vary depending on the type of treatment you are having. Please see the Services & Pricing page for more information.

How do I pay?

Card transactions are available on the day and are prefereable. Should you need to bank transfer please ask for details. Cash payments are also accepted.

What should I wear for my appointment?

  • You will be required to undress to your underwear for the treatment. You will be advised whether this is just your top half or bottom half or both (depending on the treatment). Please feel free to wear a pair of shorts for the treatment if this makes you feel more comfortable. Please make sure they are flexible enough to be rolled up if necessary (sport shorts are best, no jean shorts).
  • Please do not wear a sports bra if you are having a treatment on your upper body as this will make parts of your back difficult to treat.
  • Should you feel uncomfortable undressing it may be possible to provide a treatment through clothing. Please discuss this with us prior to the appointment so we can advise on what is best to wear for your individual circumstance.
  • If you have long hair please ensure that it is tied up.
  • It is no longer compulsory to wear a face mask for your treatment. It is entirely your decision whether to wear one or not. Should you have any concerns please just let Lucy know.

Your comfort and dignity are top priority throughout the treatment to allow you to feel safe and relaxed at all times. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to get in contact.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will depend on how you respond to treatments and on the type of injury or issue that you are having treated. Once you have had your assessment an initial treatment plan will be discussed with you. This will be reassessed throughout your recovery journey.

It can be beneficial to continue to have maintenance treatments on a regular basis after your initial treatment plan is complete to ensure you remain in tip top condition. These would typically be every 4-6 weeks, but would be worked out to suit you and your needs.

How are you reducing the risk of Covid-19 in the practice?

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

It’s understandable that Patients sometimes need to cancel appointments. Should this be the case, or you wish to reschedule an appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice. This will allow time to allocate your appointment to another Patient and make the necessary changes. Please be mindful when cancelling appointments, as this may cause loss of revenue to the business.

If you do not attend your appointment or fail to give a minimum of 24 hours notice, you will be charged a cancellation fee at the full cost of your treatment session. Cancelled appointments with more than 24 hours notice will not receive a cancellation fee.

Can I have a sports massage even though I'm not sporty?

Yes! Anyone can receive and benefit from a treatment. While this type of treatment was developed for top athletes it can be used to help anyone with aches and pains, whether your are sporty or not. Daily life and occupational pressure cause just as many, if not more injuries and postual imbalances. So, whether you're a top athlete, amateur, weekend warrior or sit at a desk for long periods of time your muscles could use a little tlc.

Can I still have a treatment if I have underlying health conditions?

Generally, the answer to this is yes! Sports massage can be very beneficial to helping you deal with the effects underlying health conditions have on your body.

Please let us know when booking your appointment about any conditions you have that you are unsure about. In some cases it may be necessary for you to check with your GP/consultant to ensure that deep tissue treatment will not interfere with any other treatments you are recieving or cause any complications with your condition.
